GO Kids & Families in West London

Family Days Out in West London Travelling with kids can be tiring enough so it’s reassuring to know that as soon as you reach West London there’s plenty to entertain the little ones. First port of call should be Pollock’s Toy Museum [map], Scala Street, Camden. Here you’ll find a massive collection of toys from across the globe and through the ages.

From dolls’ houses and folk dolls to teddy bears and tin toys, there’s plenty here for children and older people wanting to relive their childhood. Visitors can pick up a free guide and during the summer holidays there’s also live theatre performances for tots.

If they’ve been particularly well behaved it’s time to take them to Funland [map].

The world’s leading indoor family entertainment centre, located at The Trocadero [map], Piccadilly Circus, Westminster, is a real legend and perfect for older children and teenagers. Choose from a range of activities including amusement arcades, cinema and bowling.

Meanwhile, take the younger children to the Puppet Theatre Barge [map], Blomfield Road, Little Venice.

This unique venue is located on an actual barge and provides a magical experience for children. The staff are well-trained at enchanting kids and getting the best from them and you’ll be able to rest whilst your little ones are transported to their first theatre experience.

If your kids have bags of energy why not book them into a course at The London Corinthian Sailing Club [map]? This club, based at Linden House, Upper Mall, W6, runs specific courses for children under strict supervision.

If it’s the summer holidays and you’re worried that the kids are starting to forget the difference between a compass and a set square, perhaps it’s time to enjoy an education experience.

The Commonwealth Institute [map]
, Kensington High Street, has a multimedia resource centre where you’ll find a huge collection of encyclopaedias, atlases, newspapers, bibliographies, and material from the English National Curriculum and the Scottish Curriculum. You’re sure to find something to keep young minds occupied here.

Alternatively let them hone their cookery skills by booking them into The Kids Cookery School [map], Gunnersbury Lane. This unique venue offers cookery classes and workshops for children from the age of the three upwards.

Here they can have fun and learn the secrets of the kitchen – as well as the safety aspects – in this purpose-built environment. Trained staff and chefs are on hand to teach and support classes and there’s always someone to do the clearing up afterwards.
