The Morning After in Edinburgh
|| We’ve all
had those moments. It’s Sunday morning and you crawl
out of bed to discover you’re still wearing your
shoes. You can’t remember a single thing about the
previous evening and, when you do, it’s not good.
Fear not, there’s a range of eateries in Edinburgh
to aid your recovery, whether you’re looking for
a salad and pint of juice, a greasy fry-up or a hug from
your mother. Ok, the latter option might be tricky but
the other two are a doddle with the range of cafés
If you can’t get enough of meat you’ll be
pleased to know that meals at The Buffalo Grill [map],
Chapel Street, South Edinburgh, are made with you in mind.
With every kind of steak available this is a fry
up to satisfy everybody’s lust for grease and even
though lots of Edinburgh establishments offer steak, this
is the only one that offers them all!
Once the headache has diminished head to the ever-popular Hard Rock Café [map], George Street, for a range
of gigantic burgers and hotdogs with bucket
loads of fries which you can devour whilst listening
to some of the best music the UK has ever produced.
If you long to escape the crowds and need peace and quiet
to recover fully book your table at Th:At Café
[map] on West Maitland Street. This is the place to go
for some quality juices and snacks. Also
has Internet access so you can email your friends/work
colleagues/partner and apologise for your appalling behaviour
the previous night.
In Leith, The Zinc Bar and Grill [map] is perfect if you want to make the most of your weekend
with a spot of Sunday socialising. Based at Ocean Terminal,
The Zinc Bar and Grill is a funky and modern restaurant
with a wide choice of cuisine from seafood to palma
ham salad, making it the perfect place for a light
bite with friends. There’s also a fantastic range
of the latest cocktails if you’re looking
for hair of the dog.
If your head can stand the vibrant blue and orange décor
pay a visit to Wok Bar [map], Potterow, for a bargain
meal and a healthy alternative to a fry-up. Malaysian, Thai and Indonesian cuisine is on the menu
and there’s some authentic Asian beer if
you really must indulge.
