GO Sandwich Bars in Cardiff

Sandwich bars in Cardiff To compliment its huge range of visitor attractions, shops and entertainment venues, Cardiff has a good selection of sandwich bars and fast food cafés so you won’t go hungry on your sightseeing or shopping tour.

A firm favourite with workers and shoppers alike is Hudson and Mortimers [map] snack bar on Newport Road, which serves freshly prepared baguettes, jacket potatoes and salads. Located close to the city centre it's well worth the short stroll for the wide choice of fillings on offer for both sandwiches and baked potatoes. Orders can be phoned through in advance, and everything is prepared very quickly, making this place an essential stop for people in a hurry.

With three branches across the city, at Cathedral Walk, Cardiff University campus and Newport Road, O’Brien’s Irish Sandwich Bar [map] is also a popular pit stop. The menu includes a range of tasty sandwiches, such as the Chicken and Bacon Tripledecker and Turkey and Berry Chutney, great soups and Irish stew, as well as scrumptious bagels.

If you’re looking for a healthy option and have time to sit down for a minute or two, The Kitchen at the Chapter Arts Centre [map] in the Canton area of the city is a good place to go. Once wholly vegetarian, this neat little cafe still keeps an emphasis on healthy eating, but has allowed meat dishes to creep onto the menu, such as Italian chicken in red wine and lamb and vegetable soup. Other well loved dishes here include their famous parsnip and almond burgers and the cranberry and brie ciabatta.

Whether you want to eat in or take out, Jags [map] on Church Street is a trendy sandwich bar popular with tourists, workers and students. This eatery serves a good selection of baguettes with fillings including roasted peppers and cream cheese, and chicken tikka with mint yoghurt dressing.

Another place to grab a sandwich on the go is Servini’s [map] in Wyndham Arcade, whilst tucked away behind Debenhams you’ll find Minsky’s [map], a cool café-showbar, which comes complete with loud music and good value-for-money snacks and meals.

If you fancy trying a sandwich bar with a difference why not head to the Norwegian Church Café on Cardiff Bay, which does authentic Norwegian open sandwiches along with salads, scrumptious cakes and good coffee.
