GO Shopping in Bristol

Shopping in Bristol From the designer chic of Bristol’s own West End, to the unique Georgian grandeur of Clifton, if you’re in search of some retail therapy, you’ll think you’ve stepped into shopping heaven.

If you’re looking for the very latest in fashion including high street names for men, women and children, or the most exclusive footwear around, try West End.

Get over to the East Side for a range of specialist stores selling food and fabrics. The East Side is very much influenced by the surrounding Asian and Caribbean community and is therefore home to some really unusual craft shops offering you the chance to pick up a unique gift.

Clifton Village is a beautiful Georgian shopping quarter in the heart of Bristol. Here you’ll find a range of designer clothing, galleries, boutiques and restaurants. Even if you don’t want to splash the cash you should still include a visit to Clifton Village in your itinerary, if only to wander amongst the historic houses and have a bite to eat.

If you’re keen to bag a bargain, head right into the old city and check out the Corn Exchange [map] and St Nicholas Markets [map]. Stalls at the market sell everything imaginable from fresh fruit and vegetables to clothes and shoes. Nearby, you’ll be able to find original fashion and independent shops that particularly appeal to youngsters who like skate and surf wear.

For everything else try the Broadmead Centre [map], which is the largest centre of its kind in the region, playing host to an incredible 400 stores. If you’re looking for some tax free shopping or want to take the family out for a spot of bargain hunting, then this is the place to be. Get everything you need under one roof and enjoy other facilities including a food hall and crèche area. Those with mobility problems will be able to take advantage of the Shopmobility scheme that operates here.

Alternatively, follow the locals’ lead and head just outside of Bristol to avoid the crowds and do your shopping at The Mall [map]. Located at Cribbs Causeway off junction 17 of the M5, The Mall offers a family-friendly complex of more than 160 shops, cafes and restaurants.
