GO Theatre In Bristol

Theatre in Bristol The Bristol Old Vic [map], King Street, was established in 1766 by lawyers and politicians as an illegal leisure initiative. Today, the clientele has expanded and the very modern programme offers something for everyone.

With a culturally diverse programme you never know quite what to expect next from The Bristol Old Vic and if you don’t find something to appeal – which is somewhat unlikely – you could always pop behind the scenes and enjoy a tour of the backstage and its fascinating history.

A newer kid on the block can be found at The Bristol Hippodrome [map], which is a large venue offering some of the biggest touring shows around. Located at St Augustine’s Parade, The Hippodrome offers some excellent shows for the whole family including many that have transferred directly from London’s West End.

Enjoy some of the best new writing talent in the region at The Show of Strength Theatre Company [map], The Tobacco Factory, Bedminster. Showcasing new plays from established writers such as Amanda Whittington, as well as first plays from a range of new writers, The Show Of Strength Theatre Company is perfect for people who want to be entertained, enlightened and surprised by their evening’s entertainment.

If you have a budding actor or actress in your family or fancy the chance to tread the boards yourself, you should definitely check out Attic Fusion Theatre [map], which can be found at Burchells Green Road.

The Attic Fusion Theatre offers a range of drama clubs, summer schools and youth theatre events at schools and other locations across Bristol, and is a great place to get your child involved in drama.
