GO Car & Motorcycle

Getting Around in Bristol Motorway links to Bristol are very good. The M4 and M5 motorways put both London and Birmingham within a two hour drive, whilst the M32 allows direct access from the M4 to the heart of the city.

Parking in Bristol shouldn’t be a problem, but as with all major cities, traffic jams and general congestion make getting from A to B in a car somewhat difficult.

There are four park and ride facilities operating in and around Bristol: the A4 Bath Road, Long Ashton, A4 Portway, and the Tollgate Park and Ride. You will also find a number of council-run car parks operating on a pay and display basis in the city centre.

If you’d prefer to leave the car at home, there are approximately 700 licensed taxis (hackney carriages) and 600 private hire vehicles operating in Bristol.

Licensed taxis are recognised by roof top signs and can be found at designated ranks or hailed in the street. They all have taxi meters and the Council sets the tariff. Private hire vehicles do not have a roof sign and must be pre-booked. They cannot be hailed in the street or picked up at a rank.

There are taxi ranks located at Temple Meads Station and at the Bus Station on Marlborough Street, as well as at numerous locations around the centre and Broadmead.
