GO Dance in Brighton

Dance in Brighton Brighton has a number of theatres that showcase some of the country’s top dance acts, as well as plenty of dance schools so you can learn the steps too.

The city’s premier dance school is Brighton Dancecenter [map] on Eastern Road, where you can take part in classes, workshops or even study for a national qualification, if you’re hoping to make a career out of dancing. You can learn ballet, jazz, hip hop, street dance, tap, modern, contemporary, salsa, Egyptian Hilal and 5 Rhythms, to name but a few. There are classes for beginners and those just dancing for fun, along with more intense workshops led by professional artists, such as Zak Nemorin from the West End Queen musical, We Will Rock You.

Other dance schools also worth checking out include Aldrington Scottish Dancers [map] for those who want to don a kilt, Adele Academy Of Dancing [map] for ballroom, ballet and tap, Popdance UK [map] to practice being the next Britney Spears, and Salsa Party [map] for a bit of Latin fun.

If you would rather watch someone else do all the hard work then Brighton’s number one venue for touring dance companies is the Theatre Royal [map]. This grand theatre has seating for 1,000 people and tends to be where the West End musicals and dance shows are staged when they come to the city.

For a lively array of music and dance from around the globe head to the Ray Tindle Centre [map] in the North Laine district, which plays host to more exotic theatrical performances. It’s certainly the place to be for a truly colourful night out as many acts from Africa and the Tropics find their way to this daring arts centre.

The Gardner Arts Centre [map] on the University of Sussex campus is good for experimental dance and music performances, along with children’s shows and international theatre.
