City Travel in Bath

City Travel in Bath Make the most of your visit to Bath and use public transport to get out and about and see the sights.

If you are driving to Bath then the best way to get around the city is to use the Park and Ride facilities that operate on the outskirts of Bath namely Newbridge or Lansdown.

Park and Ride is a cost-effective and safe way to travel. You simply park your car in one of the free car parks and then hop on one of the frequent buses into the heart of the city centre. The bus fare is low and gives you peace of mind that your car is safe.

Large groups of people might want to take advantage of Sparkes Mini Coaches [map], which provide long distance travel for large groups of people and can get you to Bristol Airport [map] for a very reasonable fare.

Coming into the city on the cheap can be done by utilising the National Express coach service [map] that can be found at Bath Bus Station. The National Express runs regular services from Bath to cities across the UK and you can make big savings on visits to tourist attractions and theme parks. You can also use National Express to get to all major airports, particularly those located in London.

However if you'd rather travel in your own car then it's useful to know that Bath is one of the few cities to still operate free parking in many of its council-run car parks across the city. A list of these can be found by viewing the maps on the local council website.

Alternatively you could take a taxi. Hailing a taxi in Bath is pretty easy if you just step off the train at Bath Spa Railway Station. You should find a taxi rank directly in front of the main entrance. This is a safe and secure place to get a black cab but make sure that the taxi is clearly marked and that the driver has his license and identification displayed on the dashboard.
